The writing was still there for this season somewhat, and with Richard Roxburgh as Cleaver you know what you’re getting. They speak about Melissa playing mind games with Fuzz. S5 seamed so slow, until they crammed 3 or 4 episodes worth of content in to the final ten minutes of the last episode.

I absolutely LOVED this series and I’m a YANK! Fuzz tells Wendy that Claudia left him and that is why he came home. I'm disappointed. Loved how he outfoxed his opponents and ends up judge.

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed as though the finale ended really abruptly. It has to do with the childcare center at Cleaver’s campaign office. Fuzz seems thrilled to see the baby. Cleaver reunites with his son and family. I really didn’t mind the ending either. My daughter is a solicitor and so is her husband, I don’t think they carry on like Cleaver and Co ! Cal McGregor (Damien Garvey) speaks with the media.

This is a good way to look at it. The show was great... until Season 5. He wants them to say that Cleaver knows nothing about it. She suggests that David will find someone amazing in the future. GREAT series by the way.

Very sad to see it go, I was watching it and then I saw the 2 years later and I was like, oh no that is it isn't it, totally feels like a series finale. The move back to Parliament House is on, but not before the Mid-Winter Ball. Cleaver begins putting together a plan. She didn’t even think about that.
Cleaver learns that he is being charged with fraudulent use of government property for personal financial gain. Cleaver admits he thinks the whole think might have been poo.

The ending felt a little rushed, but I was ultimately very satisfied with it.

The final season started off slow and weak. They argue before David knees Cleaver in the balls.
The Finale was Cleaver back to being Cleaver which sadly unlike the first few episodes except for when he was in court against Penny was very Cleaver in name only and you'd think someone with his life experience would understand politics. Very disappointed with how disengaged it was from the rest of the series, its characters, humor, and generally a sensible plot. They share a drink together and chat about the Parliament House. Wendy admits it has been nice kissing and fooling around. He LOVED this show. Melissa suggests it isn’t about Cleaver.
I think it was more just about how random things happen to Cleaver! It was like, after episode 7, yep cool next episode, keep going, then, Cleaver is a Chief Justice and the show just ends.
He moves out a short time later. They agree to either do something or kill him.
Fuzz uses the President of France to defend his position. They contemplate what to do about Cleaver. . As far as I can tell, season 5 was obviously shit as soon as the first episode (s05:01). Caitlin (Sara Wiseman) asks Cal about the Cleaver incident. Two men are ready to escort Cleaver from the property. He also finds David half naked. When objected, the judge rules with Cleaver. "Episodes" ended Season 5 with a twist, and IndieWire spoke to the creators who tied the series finale together so beautifully. The shift to Canberra could have easily been stretched out to two series, IMHO.
The drivers do not believe he will be a senator much longer.
Cleaver must face the consequences of an ill-timed kiss. To me, the absence of both Red and Barney was very noticeable. Can you become a Chief Justice while not being the member of the bar,maybe we have to assume that was quickly remedied off screen. . He bandages his arm and suggests he just bought them time.
Cleaver gets attacked before the episode ends. However, it picked up quick and ended in a good way. He promises that they’ve never been closer with the Chinese. Cleaver learns that he is the groom.
They were a good moral compass for Cleave which I really thought was lacking in the other characters.
It was weird. Rake is finally over. Melissa explains that she just wants someone who wants her. Cleaver doesn’t know about his son returning. Easy to overlook since the show was so spectacular though.

A fun series. To my understanding, they intended to end the show after that season. She wonders why. All in all the season will probably go down as my least favourite season, but still enjoyable. Rake (AU) Season 5 Episode 7: Greene v Mid-Winter Summary: War is looming in the South China Sea; a cabinet reshuffle is on the cards, and the plumbers handled! They agree to double team him. One of the funniest series I have watched and one of the few I watched from start to finish. One of the few I could actually go back and rewatch.
