I can't really think of a better place than Frensham to have those nurtured. Surrey Individuality, relationships, motivation, opportunity, creativity, confidence and respect - all come up time and again. We do have discipline but here it means encouraging change and growth.
I think naturally humans want to learn – you look at toddlers and they want to learn to walk, they want to learn to talk – and I don't think that changes.
It's a lovely motto. The fact that I'm taking sciences and photography allows me to have the creative side in my life but also really pursue my academia. We were sorry to hear the sad news that Nathan (OF 1996-98) has died. It also has a sixth form centre for both day and boarding students, it is slightly separated from the rest of the school in order for the school to compete with other colleges. They benefit from the same imaginative and engaging curriculum, specialist teaching and wonderful facilities as our senior students. We achieve exceptional academic standards. The school's ethos revolves around the idea of mutual respect between teachers and pupils and as such, staff are referred to by their first name by pupils. Instead of a means to encourage competition and as a divisive force, the role of Houses at Frensham is to act as a socialising force once a term as each year group (7–8, 9–10, 11–13) plays a variety of House matches in a sport (football, basketball, netball or hockey). Frensham brought out who I am as a person. The best you can expect is to have a well rounded education that exposes kids to a huge diversity of things and does not channel them down traditional subjects. Based at a mock-Tudor mansion, built by the brewer Charles Charrington in 1902, and in its estate, the school is on a hill 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from the centre of Farnham but is actually in the village of Frensham. I think maybe at a different school that wouldn't be allowed. While Houses do exist (Ensor, Douglas, Nevill and King) alongside termly sporting events, there is little competition between the Houses for House Points and prizes. Our youngest students from the nursery onwards are valued and valuable members of the school community.
