It's just a good story. Although you’ll be sacrificing the sound and picture quality by purchasing the original DVD, it’s absolutely worth it if you care anything about this film. The second is un-amusing and flabby. TM2YC has done an absolutely phenomenal job reconstructing the superior theatrical version of the film, which is by far the definitive cut. To reconstruct the original 160 minute theatrical cut in high definition, editing out the added scenes, while using upscaled and color-adjusted DVD footage to restore brief scenes/shots not included in the directorâs cut. I spliced in some audio from the 1997 5.1 mix because I noticed some changes in the DC mix. The new generation has been down-grading this masterpiece because of the added scenes and fans cannot enjoy it in all its glory like they did back in the day. So get the original film and enjoy it. I borrowed sections from the 1997 mix to clean up the edits. Lieber nicht Director's Cut - aber absolute Kaufempfehlung für die "alte" Version.

This film does a wonderful job of overlaying Mozart's music on top of the fictional telling of his life, in a way that is very moving and touches on the core themes of humanity. Several extended scenes were edited to their original length, most notably Salieri telling Constanze about âthe priceâ. One minute thirteen seconds of upscaled DVD footage (plus ending credits) were used to replace shots either absent or shortened in the directorâs cut. Overlays from the DVD were used to obscure the âDirectorâs Cutâ title, as well as a castmember added to the credits in the directorâs cut. One alternate shot from the directorâs cut was retained due to poor quality on the DVD - Mozart writing Marriage of Figaro while his father and wife argue. Now that I think about it, I should have included the 1997 mix as a separate track as a courtesy. The theatrical cut flowed beautifully and it never felt like a three-hour film. Restore any missing footage with DVD material as seamlessly as possible. I watched it with my whole family and we all gazed up at our TV screen in wonder. So get the original film and enjoy it.
I just assumed the box set was in CAV. I would recommend watching this movie to anyone with even the slightest interest in music, and even those who do not care for music at all. stretch009, I should be able to make your deadline. I used primarily the 2002 mix because it is lossless. I shouldn't see Mozart's wife's boobs. The PG rating will also attract young audiences into this film and learn the true beauty of cinema, as opposed to the longer, rated R version of the film that mostly patient adults will find enjoyment in. But this movie crosses the line, is special, and is a musical experience as well as a visual one. The audio and HD transfer on this Blu-ray is great, but the Director’s Cut of this film is just AWFUL. There are legitimate reasons some scenes do not make it to the final version and it is hypocritical for a director to rest on his laurels by bastardizing the very work that achieved those laurels. I absolutely LOVE the theatrical release of Amadeus but I HATE, HATE, HATE the fact that Amazon only offers the director's cut on digital. This is one of the movies you can watch over and over and each time spot something or hear something wondrously new and exciting that you didn't know before. I would suggest, if possible, including the Pioneer Special Edition laserdisc's PCM Dolby Surround track and commentary?
