The Eastern Maine Railway Company Limited (reporting mark EMRY) is a 99.5 mi (160.1 km) U.S. short line railroad owned by the New Brunswick Railway Company, a holding company that is part of "Irving Transportation Services", a division within the industrial conglomerate J.D. The Southern Railway took a key role in expanding the 660 V DC third rail electrified network begun by the London & South Western Railway. Together the lines connect Brownsville Jct with the port of St. John, Canada's second busiest on the Atlantic; so they are quite important. The McAdam yard is noteworthy for having a large, preserved passenger station. In early 2002, NB Southern entered an agreement with CN that saw NB Southern lease CN’s Island Yard in Saint John.
